Changes

This collaged triptych on wooden canvas incorporates several materials: newspaper, acrylic markers for the black text and detailing, acrylic paint for the clocks and the colored hot-glue words, and photographs of David Bowie, shot by Brian Ward for the Hunky Dory album cover, printed on acetate. Each panel includes lyrics from Bowie’s “Changes,” tying the work back to Hunky Dory once again. From left to right, the triptych represents three moments in time: past, present, and future. I selected lyrics that aligned with these themes, and the Bowie images help convey a universal emotional arc, looking down on your past, confronting your present, and hopefully looking upward toward the future.
