My clock sculpture reflects on the fleeting nature of time, how quickly it can pass in some moments, and how slowly it moves when all you want is for it to move forward. It incorporates lyrics from Pink Floyd’s “Time”, which capture both the pressure to make every moment meaningful and the difficulty of appreciating the ordinary, unremarkable ones I know I’ll eventually miss. The piece is also a study in a pop-art style inspired by works like Roy Lichtenstein’s Interior with Woman (1997), which influenced the dramatic, stylized shading and highlights. My goal was to make the sculpture feel as though it could have been lifted straight from a comic.
