Birds

Project type

Photography

Date

September 2025

Location

Sag Harbor, NY

Editing:
To edit this photo, I decreased the whites and increased the clarity and texture, as it was taken around midday and was overexposed before editing. I also brightened the temperature a bit more yellow to add harmony between the pure blue sky and the browns of the birds.

Analysis:
The focal point of this image is the bird facing slightly toward the viewer, which is also positioned at the center of the composition. The negative space, along with the strong diagonal created by the power line, guides the viewer’s eye across the row of birds and creates visual interest through repetition. When selecting which photo from the series to edit, I chose this one because of the bird’s striking side profile, which gives it an almost regal, proud quality.
