Editing:
The first step in editing was converting the photo to black and white. I then increased the contrast with the main contrast tool and by adjusting the highlights, whites, blacks, and shadows. I also raised the texture slightly to give the grass more dimension.
Analysis:
This photo features soft, flowing lines contrasted with strong highlights. The repeated reflections in the nails and the woman’s bag naturally draw the viewer’s eye. The composition is intentionally unbalanced, with all the negative space concentrated on the left side. This directs attention toward the distinctive shapes and textures of the women’s dresses. The lighting is natural, with the photo taken at dusk, but I brightened the photo during editing to enhance the contrast. The tone of the image is calm yet formal, emphasized by the way one woman politely clutches her bag behind her. The angle of the shot deliberately excludes the subjects’ faces, adding not only a sense of narrative but also an element of mystery that invites viewers to interpret what might be happening in the scene.
